Happy New Year from all your friends at All American Pet Resorts! We hope that you are enjoying 2017 so far and are looking forward to the year ahead and all of the excitement the New Year brings!
2016 was a great year for us, and none of our success this past year would have been possible without your support. We'd like to take a moment to thank all of our wonderful clients, and their pets, for making All American Pet Resorts the premier boarding and daycare facility in our area. We look forward to continuing to serve you and your furry family members in 2017!
January is a time when many of us reflect on the past year and consider the ways we can make the New Year even better. That's why so many of us are taking some time to set resolutions this month! Resolutions are personal, but that doesn't mean that they can't extend to other members of your family - like your pets! As a caring pet owner, you'll want to make sure that your pet has the happiest and healthiest 2017 possible!
With that in mind, here are a few pet-focused New Year's Resolutions for you to keep in mind:
Schedule a Veterinary Appointment
Just like you, your pet should visit their doctor once a year for an annual wellness exam. While there, they'll receive any vaccinations and preventatives (such as flea/tick and heartworm medications) that they need for the year ahead. Not only is this an important part of keeping your pet healthy, but most boarding and daycare facilities - like All American Pet Resorts - require that your pet is up-to-date on their vaccinations for the safety of your pet and others. A visit to your vet can also help to prevent health problems and address any questions or concerns that you have regarding your pet's physical health or behavior.
Keep Up with Grooming
Grooming is an important part of keeping your pet clean and looking nice. Depending on the type of coat your pet has, grooming may entail brushing, fur trimming, and de-shedding treatments. In addition to keeping their appearance looking great, grooming also helps to keep your pet healthy! Regular grooming can prevent matting and help to spot and remove ticks and fleas. A professional grooming session can also help bring to your attention any skin conditions or abnormalities that you might not otherwise notice.
Consider Other Hygiene Needs
In addition to treating your pet's coat and skin, your pet has other hygiene needs that are important to take into consideration. Dental hygiene, nail trimming, and anal gland expression are all important parts of keeping your pet happy and healthy in the New Year.
Enroll in Professional Training
Training your pet asserts you as their leader, and helps to build mutual trust and respect between you and your pet. Training your pet will help them to become more confident animals and will keep them safe in many situations. Training also helps you as their owner to better understand the way they think and act. From teaching basic leash manners and commands to agility training and fun tricks, training has unlimited benefits for both your pet and the rest of your family.
Involve Your Boarding Staff
Sending your pet to boarding or daycare is a great way for them to learn to interact with other people and pets. In addition to the socialization and love that they'll receive and the fun they'll have, boarding your pet at a "high-touch" resort like ours can help to keep them safe and healthy. Since the staff handles your pet so much - playing with them, body checks, bathing, moving them from place to place, etc. - they may more easily spot any new lumps, bumps, or injuries on your pet.
A professionally-trained staff member at your boarding facility also tends to have a more objective perspective when observing and spending time with your pet. They might be more likely to notice a behavioral problem and can help you take steps to correct it.
Talk to our staff to see how your pet is doing after their next stay with us. Make sure to ask if there is anything we'd recommend you speak with a trainer or veterinarian about.
